Origin: Mexico, introduced into Europe in 1789.
There are at least 20 differents species of these tuberous-rooted perennials that one can use for flowerbeds, borders or cut flowers.

The tubers should be cleaned and put in a cool dark place on peat until the next plant out when risk of frost is past.
