Name: Dahlia, named after the Swedish botanist, Dr. Anders Dahl.
Origin: Mexico, introduced into Europe in 1789.
There are at least 20 differents species of these tuberous-rooted perennials that one can use for flowerbeds, borders or cut flowers. The tubers should be cleaned and put in cool dark place on peat until the next plant out when risk of frost is past.
