Name: Zinnia .
Named after Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727-1759) professor of Botany.
Origin: Mexico; introduced to Europe in 1796. Flowers come in different brilliant colors, white, red, yellow, violet, orange, crimson, single and doubles. Used for flowerbeds, borders, or cut flowers. They love the sun, rich soil and plenty of water.
