Name: Gloxinia.
Origin: Brazil, introduced in 1815.
This type is red but horticultural varieties are plenty with pink, white and purple, orange, either plain or bicolor flowers. After flowering, water should be reduced, then stopped. The tubers can be kept till next Spring.
