"My Mom
" Watercolor by Jenny Hoang
Meet Jenny
Hoang: This painting is a portrait my
Mother in her late 40's with her black velvet turban and
her smile as I remember her now. It was during the
hardest time of her life: The French War just began (1945-1954).
It took away my three brothers and my father's career. I
recalled her beauty and her inner strength amidst famine
and despair. It was her courage and devotion that has
sustained the family all along. When we lived in New
York, she encouraged me to take a Major in Arts and
Graphics. I love my Mom as much as I love painting. She
passed away in Los Angeles at 96 years old. See a photo of my mom half a century later in L.A. |
